September 2010

A Note from the Regent

The long hot summer will be coming to an end soon and Court Holy Rosary #1476 will embark on another year of service to our Lord and to our community through charitable acts and prayers. Unity and Charity continues to work within each of us. As your newly elected Regent, I am asking each member to embrace our new members, encourage them to join in our various committees, charitable events and fund raisers. The more ladies who participate equates to less work for each; the reward being more fun and fellowship among our volunteers. Unless you volunteer, you will not experience the unity, friendship and fellowship with your CDA sisters that so many of us have come to enjoy.

May our Blessed Mother guide us throughout the year and strengthen our commitment to this wonderful organization of sisters in Christ.

Rose Pederson

Worthy Regent

"And I, if I am lifted up from the earth willd raw all my peoples to Myself." (John 12:32)

A prayer for you

God bless all my CDA sisters in whatever it is that you know they

may need. May their lives be full of your peace, prosperity and power

as they seek to have a closer relationship with you.

53rd Biennial National Convention in Buffalo, NY

By Cathy Bittner, Delegate

Cathy Bittner attended the convention in July as a delegate for our court. These are a few tidbits of the activities. Please attend the September meeting for a full report from Cathy.

July 14 began with two seminars. I attended the Leadership seminar presented by directors Letty Calvettie and Helene Shepard who came out dressed in army fatigues! It turned out to be a great workshop and the information was well received. My afternoon seminar was cut short as I helped Cecina Koejmans, national parliamentarian, with a special project. We held a very impressive living rosary with all states represented.

The business of the convention began with Libby Ramirez, National Regent, presiding. Ways to lower the cost of the SHARE magazine, resolutions. bylaws and amendments were discussed. The biggest change is the Tools of the Trade manual. I brought this back to our court. The by-laws will be sent out after the changes that were voted on are included.

Thursday the new national officers were voted on. Friday the bylaws were finalized. Saturday awards were presented. I am especially proud that the Texas Court was recognized by the Quality of Life chair for our MOMS (Mission of Mercy) project of which I am state chairman. We were also mentioned for our memorial scholarship program.

100 points to get into Heaven

A man dies and goes to heaven. St. Peter meets him at the pearly gates. St. Peter says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in."

"Okay" the man says, "I attended church every Sunday"

"That's good, says St. Peter, " that's worth two points"

"Two points?" he says. "Well, I gave 10% of all my earnings to the church"

"Well, let's see," answers Peter, "that's worth another 2 points. Did you do anything else?"

"Two points? Golly. How about this: I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a shelter for homeless veterans."

"Fantastic, that's certainly worth a point, " he says.

"hmmm...," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart."

"That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth three points!"

"THREE POINTS!!" the man cries, "At this rate the only way I get into heaven is by the grace of God!"

"Come on in!"
