A Note From the Regent
“Women Embracing the Gift of Humanity” is the theme we are celebrating for CDA Sunday on October 19. We are going to honor 23 members who have completed 50 years or more of continuous service to our court and who have been voted in as life members. These are the ladies who had the vision and dedication to see the usefulness and value of the organization. Through continuous support of membership and loyalty, they became the backbone of the organization. Some may have contributed a little, some more, but all of these were valuable. Without them the court will not be as it is today.
October 7 is also the feast of our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Patron of our Parish. Let us always pray to our Lady, our Mediatrix, that Jesus may help us in all our undertakings, be it in our family, work, church or community.

Who are the Territorial Courts?
Why can’t they belong to a State Court? Where are they located?
Territorial Courts are those courts organized in a state but lack the required number of courts and membership to form a State Court. Per our by-laws, it is required to have a minimum of at least 5 local courts with a membership of at least 200 to form a State Court.
There are 21 territorial courts located throughout the Americas, namely:
Hawaii (1), Kentucky (1), Kansas (2), Indiana (1), South Carolina (2), Washington DC (2), Guam (2), Mexico (3), Alaska (2), Dominican Republic (4), and the Virgin Islands (1).
Importance of the Bylaws
Anne Nelson, one of the National Directors and National Bylaws Chairman stated that Bylaws keep us organized and allow the members to have a voice. By careful study, editing and updating an organization can stay viable, current and in step with modern times.
Bylaws are the voice of the members as they can only be changed when the membership is gathered in convention. It is the responsibility of each member to know, to study, to give voice to and adhere to the bylaws.
Smile Train – National Project
This is a National Charitable Project dedicated to helping millions of children in the world who suffer from cleft lip and palate. At the last convention Claudia Bosch presented a check amounting to $25,000 to Michelle Daworsky, representative of Smile Train. At a cost of $250 per surgery, this amount will correct defects in about 100 children.
Million Rosaries for the Unborn Worldwide
The Saint Michael the Archangel Organization is asking for all to join in saying the rosary on October 18, 2008. It is hoped that people throughout the world will pray the Rosary for an end to the surgical and non-surgicalkilling of unborn babies.

Court members will attend the 9:00 am Mass in body. Breakfast reception will immediately follow in Marian Hall for all members, their families and guests. Life members will be honored during this celebration.
Needy Family
Mary Beth Haas reported that the children were provided with school clothes for the coming school year. As of the present time the family needs help with electric and rental bills. Mary Beth also reported that the mother did not have any income this past summer because the school cafeteria where she works is closed.
The family is very appreciative of the gifts, school clothes, canned goods and financial help afforded them .
Court members are reminded to bring non-perishable goods to the meeting for our needy family. It will be nice to see the table full of bags of groceries for them.

By Rose Pederson
First of all, I thank Norma Locker, Irene Cervenka and Joan Rhemann for helping to co-chair our CDA Cake Spin Booth. Thank you to all members who gave their time to work in the booth, those who donated cakes and pies and gave monetary gifts to support our fund raising efforts for Holy Rosary Church. We did not win a prize this year but had many comments on how pretty our booth was.
We received 104 cakes and pies along with $210.00 in checks and $75.00 in cash donations. The token count was (tentatively) 2404 tokens which equals to $1202.00.
We raised $1569.50 with no expenses incurred. This will be donated to the Church. We had 120 CDA members participate in this event .
Morality in Media
The Court is going to participate in the White Ribbon Against Pornography (WRAP) campaign from October 26 to November 2. Chairman for this project is Sharon Krystinik who will discuss our participation in the next meeting.

Adieu, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye
It is with mixed feeling that we have to say goodbye to our Chaplain Rev. Daniel Warden who was with our Court for 20 years. We are going to miss him. Also to be missed is Rev. Pat Warden, his brother, who for the past 7 years helped in celebrating the Sunday liturgies and among other things had said the 9:00 am mass for CDA Sundays.
May you have a very happy retirement and may Jesus shower his grace upon you in your future endeavors.
