A Note From the Regent

Fall weather brings us pumpkins, fall colors, Thanksgiving day and Memorial remembrances of our loved ones.  We have a lot to be thankful for: good family, good health, good friends, and a very kind and caring CDA Chaplain.  Additionally, I am thankful that so many members are coming forward to help me in accomplishing the various tasks of the Court.  Also, I am thankful for the patience and cooperation of the members with the extended meetings in September and October for various reasons.  I hope this forgiving spirit continues because “together we are strong”.

November is the time when we remember our deceased members with a Memorial mass.  Our memories might well be expanded to include deceased Clergy, deceased spouses, and other deceased family members who have been very dear to us.  It is by remembering all of these souls that we appreciate the gift of life. Let us remember them in our prayers.

Norma N. Locker

Worthy Regent

CDA Sunday

The Court celebrated CDA Sunday on October 19 by attending Holy Mass in body which was celebrated by our Chaplain Rev Bill Bartniski.  The members sat in a group and wore their white sashes.  The officers brought the gifts during offertory.

Members enjoyed a variety of kolaches, cheese, punch and coffee for breakfast in Marian Hall.  Twenty three life time members were honored during the program by reading a brief biographical sketch of each.  Due to health and other personal commitments, only 9 were present at the ceremony (as shown below).  Each was given a rose as a token of appreciation for their continued support to CDA.  The roses were delivered to those who were not present.  A jumbo raffle and door prizes were also enjoyed by the members.

The following committee members planned this affair and we want to thank them for a job well done: Martha Krolczyk, Violet Poncik, Kathy Poncik, Margaret Ainsworth, Virginia Gurecky, and Lillian Kujawa. We also want to thank Jeannette Hudec and her husband for taking the pictures.

National Election

National Regent, Libby Ramirez encourages everyone to exercise their right to vote on November 4, 2008.  The CDA organization cannot endorse or support a political candidate or a political party.  We CANNOT advise our members to “vote for the pro-life candidate”.  Instead she advises everyone to know the issues, to know the candidate’s position on issues, and to vote their moral conscience on pro-life issues.

State News

National Election

Peggy Supak, Texas State Legislative Chairman also urges all CDA members to vote their conscience in the coming election, keeping in mind the dignity of life and human values.  She states that “As Catholics, our cause is the defense of human life and dignity and the protection of the weak and vulnerable….”

Mass/Dinner Reception for Libby Ramirez sponsored by Texas State Board and members, September 27, 2008

Mass was celebrated by Rev Bob Dunn, Pastor of the Most Precious Blood Church in Corpus Christi.  Reception immediately followed at the Omni Hotel.  It was a well attended affair.  Seven Court Holy Rosary members attended with their families.  After the meal, family members, clergy, and CDA officers spoke of her accomplishments as mother and a Catholic Daughter leader.  She was portrayed as a kind, caring person who touches the lives of all those that she comes in contact with and does so in a disciplined manner.
