Congratulations TO Court Holy Rosary #1476 on its 60th Anniversary

Court Holy Rosary #1476 will be 60 years old on June 6^th. The Court will have a special celebration at the June Salad Supper for this special event.

The Court is asking all Charter members to please be present if you can. Please Call Janey Schumacher and RSVP to let me know if you can come. Also, if you need a ride, please let me know. We would like as many charter members to be present as possible. Thank you.

Honoring Our Mothers

At the May meeting, we will have a light supper to honor all mothers, living and deceased. Come early and enjoy the fellowship.

Court Makes Plans for Cake Spin Booth - Chair needed!

Plans are already underway for the Annual Holy Rosary Bazaar!

Court Holy Rosary will once again be hosting the always popular Cake Spin Booth. The Court will need a Chair for this event. If you are interested, please let me know at the May meeting.

Spaghetti Supper Results

The Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser was another grand success!  Thanks to the hard work and dedication of many volunteers and everyone who attended the event. The Court made a total net profit of almost $1200.00. A written report will be given at the May meeting.

190 Meal tickets were sold. A wonderful spaghetti lunch was served to eager attendees. In addition to the lunch, there was a Jumbo Raffle and our annual Flags up Game. This was, once again, a highlight of the day.

A special thanks to Norma Locker and Betty Overgoner for the wonderful display of past events in Court Holy Rosary and the display of all the activities that are done by our Court.                                       

We look forward to doing many good things with the money raised this year! 

Confirmation reception committee

Every year a group of ladies from Court Holy Rosary #1476 volunteer to host the Confirmation Reception for the youth of our parish who are receiving this Blessed Sacrament. These ladies prepared the Holy Rosary School Cafeteria with decorations, flowers and served cake, punch, and cookies to those attending.

This long-standing tradition is a beautiful way for our Court to play a role in recognizing the wonderful accomplishment these young people have achieved as they continue their faith walk.

Thank you to this year’s volunteers:

Alma Slawinski (Chair) Helen Torres, Pat Schimara, Mary Ann Olive, Margaret Ainsworth, Janice Rejsek, and Pam Labay. Thank you ladies for doing a great job and baking the cookies.

Cardinal D’nardo thanked the ladies for their help in bringing about this wonderful occasion.

Donations for the After-school Program at Cameron Park

The court would like to thank all the members that personally donated to the after school program at Cameron Park. This was a special effort by Cathy Bittner and the MOMS PROJECTS. 

Not all the courts in Texas were asked to donate to this project. The effort was presented only to Court Holy Rosary and a couple of others. We were going to try and raise $500.00 just in Rosenberg. That is why the executive board thought Court Holy Rosary could give at least $200.00. But, since the members voted to only give $50.00, a group of special ladies decided to give personal donations.

These Special Angels were:

Amelia Burke, Kathy Franklin, Katherine Frybert, Helen Torres. Sharon Kristynik, Lillian Kujawa, Judy Janecka, Jill Sumpter, Trichelle Lev and Cathy Bittner. Thank you, Ladies, for a job well done, and I am sure God will bless you for this wonderful effort.

Diosesan-wide Memorial Mass for Deceased Members 

This notice was received by E-Mail from Ginger Shea. This e-mail is to inform you and your Court that a (Galveston/Houston) DIOCESAN-WIDE Memorial Mass for Deceased Members has been scheduled for (Saturday) November 15, 2008. It will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, Texas  77581. The Mass is being hosted by District 17.

Nominations for for Court #1476 Elections for 2008-2010

At the March meeting of Court Holy Rosary #1476, a Nomination committee was selected to make a new selection for Officers for the 2008-2010 term.

The Nominating Committee consisted of:

Dorothy Pospisil- Chair, Mary Beth Haas, Janice Rejsek, Rose Pederson, and Sharon Kristynik.

The names of the candidates were submitted by the nominating committee on April 21, 2008 and all nominated consented to run for the 2008-2010 term for Court Holy Rosary #1476. The candidates are:

VICE REGENT:                     Joyce Bartos and Beverly Waddle

FINANCIAL SECRETARY:        Charlotte Carlson

Golden Vanilla Cake

Recipe by Margaret Ainsworth

Golden vanilla cake mix by Betty Crocker

1 container of Coconut Pecan icing

Mix cake as directed on cake mix box. After it is mixed, stir in about 1/4 can of coconut pecan icing. Bake in bundt pan for 44 minutes at 350 degrees. After the cake is baked, put the rest of the coconut pecan icing on the cake while it is still warm.

You can also do this method with a German chocolate cake mix.
