A Note from the Regent
What a fun time we had at the February meeting!
As we prepare to enter the Lenten Season - a season of soul-searching, repentance and reflection.
Put it all in perspective. One of the things that always gets me back on track with my Lenten offering is to think of what Jesus went through and then compare it to what I am sacrificing. Suddenly, whatever I gave up doesn't seem as difficult, and I'm usually re-energized.
I wish you all a blessed and renewing Lenten season!
Janey Schumacher
Today's Quote
Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better.
-Sydney J. Harris
MEETING CHANGE!
The meeting for March has been changed to Wednesday, March 5 in the school cafeteria at 7:15 pm due to the fact that Tuesday is the Primary for voting and I know each of you are going to vote!
Norma Locker and Cathy Bittner are busy preparing for a 'community' Rosary to be said at the March meeting. Lent is a perfect time for the Court to come together for an extra time for reflection in prayer. The Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm.
If the weather hold out and it does not rain, the Court would like to have a candlelight vigil outside by the Chapel. Please bring a candle if you can.
Dues Reminder
Dues are due in January. We need your dues to help us pay our taxes, both for National and State. Dues are $20.00 and given or mailed to Jeanette Hudec, 281-341-4987. Address: 1120 Klare Street, Rosenberg, Texas 77471.
Valentine Bake Sale
A special Thank You goes to all the ladies that baked and gave donations, and helped Janey Schumacher with the bake sale. It was a real success and the Court made over $1,000. A report on the exact amount will be given at the March meeting. Money raised from the bake sale has been designated for the Educational Scholarship Fund.
Court Prepares for Annual Raffle
Raffle tickets will be available for members to pick up at our March meeting. Help us keep our postage costs down by coming to the meeting and picking up your tickets. The Court has received donations from many of our members and several local businesses. Thanks to all of you for your participation! This Court would be nothing without its members!

June 2008, a new slate of officers will be installed for the 2008-2010 term
The CDA Bylaws require a Nominating Committee of three (3) to five (5) shall be elected by plurality vote at the regular business meeting in March in alternate years to the State elections. Nominations shall be from the floor. No member may serve more than two (2) consecutive terms on the Nominating Committee.

Read Across America
The National Education Association's annual Read Across America event will take place again on March 3, 2008. Catholic Daughters have promoted and participated in this event for the past several years, and 2008 will be no exception.
Pam Labay and Shirley Myers have graciously volunteered to chair this event. Pam has set up everything with Holy Rosary School Library to read to the children on that day. If anyone can help, please call Pam and let her know. The Court will vote on giving a donation to the library at the March meeting.
Congratulations to the Rosary Makers!
Congratulations to the ladies that make the rosaries. The Court has just donated eleven hundred and fifty-five (1,155) to Father Manzano in California and to the priests and nuns of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
In addition, Lydia Mahlman is busy making Rosaries to take to a prison. The Court also sent all the sacramentals that were collected at the mettings to Father Manzano. Father Manzano will take the rosaries and sacramentals to the Philippines.
To date, the Court has made and donated 25,180 rosaries!
Thank you ladies for a wonderful job. I am sure the Blessed Mother will smile down on you for your wonderful job.

Dos and Donts of Life
Don't be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give love; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
Don't dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope; to be without hope is to be without purpose.
Don't run though life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way. Remember to enjoy the journey and growth we call LIFE.
Prayer for the Morning
Oh God!
I awaken, go to sleep, live and die by You and to You is the final gathering.
I have awakened and the morning has come with the Dominion belonging to the God.
All praise is due to God; there is no partner with Him; there is none worthy of worship besides Him; and to Him is the final gathering.
