February 2008 newsletter

A Note from the Regent

Thanks to everyone for coming out for the first meeting of the year in January! The meeting was well attended and was very productive. To the amazement of many we covered a large amount of information in a relatively short time.

Maybe we all took our “Constructive and Productive” motto to heart!  Speaking of hearts, February is a month for love. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, which means red roses, candy and maybe a nice romantic dinner, but also remember the exciting events we have coming up for the month.

Ladies, if you have not been to a meeting lately try coming and seeing what new things are being planned. The February meeting is on Fat Tuesday and we are celebrating with a Cajun supper.

I wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day and hope that you will be able to spend time with the ones you love.

Janey Schumacher

District Meeting News

The District meeting for our Court was held in Wallis at Guardian Angel Church, hosted by Court Queen of Angels, on January 19, 2008.

The Court had 15 ladies. We are so thankful for the ladies that went; this really made our Court look good. The presentation was presented by Olga Samaniego, Past State Regent. This lady can really get you motivated. She is a wonderful speaker. If you ever have a chance to hear this lady speak, be sure to go!

Delegates Needed for National Convention

The National Convention is coming up in July this year from July 16 through July 20 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Due to our Court's size, we are allowed four (4) delegates and eight alternates. National conventions are an excellent way to dive into the organization and they are fun-filled to boot! All delegates and alternative must be submitted by March 15, 2008.

If you are interested in attending this meeting, please contact Janey Schumacher at 281-232-8721.

Annual Raffle and Fundraiser Court #1476

Helen Torres remind members present that it is almost time for our annual raffle and fundraiser. Members are asked to come to the February meeting prepared with an idea of what they will donate to the raffle so it can be added to the list. For example gift cards may be donated that will be redeemed for items.

Let’s put our creative caps on, ladies!

We have such talent in this Court; I can only imagine the beautiful items that might be donated!

Prayer When I Can't Pray

I try to pray;
words don’t come.
I toss and turn
and feel nothing.
My mind is dry,
my heart is dull,
my soul longs
for life.
Hear my silent cry,
my God, hear me.
Let me not be
a shriveled reed
or an empty shell.
Breathe on me
and make me whole.
Give me passion
that I may love.
Then shall my tongue praise
your holy name
with words I do not yet know.
So be it.
