A Note from the Regent
Behold! For unto us a Child is born. Are we preparing ourselves for His birth? Christmas decorations are appearing in our stores earlier each year. TV, email and newspaper ads are grasping our attention to the latest gadgets and electronic marvels. Worries that we can't find the "right" gift sets in. Will these distractions consume our thoughts or will we rise above the material pitfalls of the holidays and focus on "The Reason for the Season"? The church is preparing for the coming of the Christ Child. Are we preparing our gifts for His birth? Are we focusing on the many gifts He has bestowed upon us this year?
I wish all members and their families a very Merry Christmas!
Rose Pederson
Worthy Regent
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, laying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. ~Luke 2:9-14

National Resolution
Submitted by the National Committee
One of the resolutions adopted at the 53rd Biennial National Convention in July 2010 stated:
Whereas, the numerous organizations across our country hold activities, take collections of articles and offer support for the men and women of the Armed Forces, to let them know we appreciate the sacrifices they make to keep us safe and to keep freedom alive: therefore, be it
Resolved, that the members of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas organize or partner an activity in support of our Armed Forces.
ON A LOCAL NOTE:
We have this opportunity in hand to partner with the local Military Outreach Program. We are looking for ladies who would like to sew bone pillows for our troops overseas. More to follow at our January meeting on this worthwhile project.

Local News
Habitat for Humanity
We are ahead of schedule on the construction. No CDA workers are needed for the rest of November. Other courts have signed up for food service for the whole month of December. We are waiting for word from Christine Moore, Habitat Director, on the possibility of our court serving in January 2011.
Awards
Norma Locker received the honor of Catholic Daughter of the Year. At our November meeting, she was awarded a CDA of the Year plaque and an arrangement of flowers. Norma was instrumental in our court receiving several awards for our court newsletter and Circle of Love program as well as becoming our District Deputy while still completing her office as Regent. Norma, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication.
Also, a 50 year CDA pin and a rose was awarded to Margaret Lev.
CenterPoint Energy GIVE Grant
CenterPoint Energy has awarded Court Holy Rosary #1476 a $500 grant. A letter from Lisa Foronda, CenterPoint Energy Community Relations Supervisor, stated that CenterPoint's employees and retirees embody a spirit of giving and are dedicated to the well-being and development of the communities they serve and that they are proud of the dedicated individuals that are equally committed to impacting the worthwhile organizations to which they serve.
Jeannette, Financial Secretary of our CDA Court, is an employee of CenterPoint and applied for this grant. Thank you Jeannette for your dedication and loyalty.
Military Outreach
Court Holy Rosary #1476 invited Doris Dahse of St. Paul's Lutheran Church to speak about their Military Outreach program at our November meeting. Doris brought a sampling of goods that they pack in boxes to be sent to our troops overseas. Our court made a donation to this very worthwhile program. There are a few things that we can individually help with. They need help making bone shaped pillows for the troops as many spend their sleep time lying on open ground. Violet Poncik has a pattern for these pillows and they are simple to make. They must be out of a specific fabric. We will discuss this at our next meeting.
Adoptive Family
Our new family has a new addition of their own. Their baby girl was born almost a month ago. Mary Beth Haas and Gloria Zdunkewicz are this year's chairpersons. A table will be set up to the left of the door at the Christmas party for food or gifts for the family so that we can give them a Merry Christmas. The clothing sizes of the family are:
Father - XLG
Mother - XLG
4 year old boy - size 6
12 month old girl - 18 month
baby girl - size 3 month on up
Apostolate Committee
Gloria Mican, Pat Schimara and Violet Poncik served pudding, vanilla wafers and punch to theresidents on Fort Bend Nursing Home on November 13.

Prayer of the Immaculate Conception
Father, you prepared the Virgin Mary to be the worthy mother of Your Son. You let her share beforehand in the salvation Christ would bring by His death, and kept her sinless from the first moment of her conception. Help us by her prayers to live in Your presence without sin. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Christmas Present
It was the day after Christmas at a church in San Francisco. The pastor of the church was looking over the cradle when he noticed that the baby Jesus was missing from among the figures. Immediately he turned and went outside and saw a little boy with a red wagon, and in the wagon was the figure of the little infant, Jesus.
So he walked up to the boy and said, "Well, where did you get Him, my fine friend?"
The little boy replied, "I got him from the church."
"And why did you take him?"
The boy said, "Well, about a week before Christmas I prayed to the little Lord Jesus and I told him if he would bring me a red wagon for Christmas I would give him a ride around the block in it."
No meeting in December. See you at the Christmas Party.
