Sports Equipment arrives at Cameron ParK!

July 2008 Letter from Cameron Park
Donations for the After-school Program at Cameron Park - April 08 update
The Court would like to thank all the members that personally donated to the after school program at Cameron Park. This was a special effort by Cathy Bittner and the MOMS PROJECTS.
Not all the courts in Texas were asked to donate to this project. The effort was presented only to Court Holy Rosary and a couple of others. We were going to try and raise $500.00 just in Rosenberg. That is why the executive board thought Court Holy Rosary could give at least $200.00. But, since the members voted to only give $50.00, a group of special ladies decided to give personal donations.
These Special Angels were:
Amelia Burke, Kathy Franklin, Katherine Frybert, Helen Torres. Sharon Kristynik, Lillian Kujawa, Judy Janecka, Jill Sumpter, Trichelle Lev and Cathy Bittner. Thank you, Ladies, for a job well done, and I am sure God will bless you for this wonderful effort.
The Court received an email from Alicia, of Cameron Park, where CDA built a Habit for Humanity House. CDA trys to give donations to Cameron Park as much as possible.
Hey Everyone,
I am working on the estimate of what it would cost to buy outdoor equipment for the Children's Tutorial. Brother Albert has been working with me regarding any permanent fixtures that we could put in the play area. He is against putting them in because he says they get vandalized. They will be thrilled to have real equipment. Our goal posts at this time are plastic chairs placed apart. Our bases for kickball are also quite creative; painted chalk markings or ribbons tied on trees and light-posts in the running area. They are a cause for passionate agruments whenever they are called out! The kids are hilarious and wonderful! We will have a very active Summer Program this Summer and all of this equipment will help make it more effective and fun! I think we can buy most of this equipment with an amount of about $500.00. I inquired at Acadamy and WalMart, considering several price ranges. Everything I looked into has a scale of quality considered. You know how that goes. Thank You again for your loving concern.
Love Alicia
Please give a donation if you can and the Catholic Daughters will vote on an amount at the April 1, 2008 meeting. Children are very important people and if the Court can help, we will. Thanks, Janey.
SPECIAL CHRISTMAS 2008 PLEA!
UPDATE: Thanks to the following ladies who contributed toys to the children of Cameron Park!
Norma Locker, Helen Torres, Gloria Mican, Jill Sumpter, Karey Bittner, Jennifer Bittner, Joyce Horelica, Mary Ondrush, Cathy Bittner, and the Wednesday morning lady bowlers.
To All My CDA buddies, friends, & family,
I have been in contact with Alicia from Cameron Park near Brownsville. You CDA'ers know this is one of our MOMS projects. It seem that many of the children in her area will not be visited by Santa Claus this year. There just wasn't enough room on his sleigh for these kids!!!
With that in mind, Lil Hansen, Chair of TX CDA MOMS & I (Vice Chair) are going to make a run to these kids & help them celebrate Epiphany Sunday. Now, we may not be able to make this trip exactly on Jan. 6, but we'll do it soon after. Here's where you come in.
After Christmas ask your children, grand children, neighbors, relatives, church, etc. to recycle those toys that are gently used, but would still make a child happy. Many of ours have outgrown a toy & maybe some nice clothing items too. Clean out your attic. Maybe while returning an unwanted gift you received, exchange it for these kids. Use your imagination & let's help Alicia help these kids. Keep in mind, though, there is no extra money for batteries & sometimes no place to plug in, so refrain from these items. Also keep in mind that these kids do not need to be playing with toys you wouldn't want your kids to play with. Please bring these items to the January 2 CDA meeting or call Cathy to arrange for dropoff, etc.
We are looking to provide gifts for 83 children from toddlers to teenagers.
So, there it is. Will you help me spread the word on this? Feel free to call me for any ideas. I can be reached on my cell at 713-419-7620. I look forward to another successful mission!
